Relieve the pressure cooker

“Even though you may want to move forward in your life, you may have one foot on the brakes. In order to be free, we must learn how to let go. Release the hurt. Release the fear. Refuse to entertain your old pain. The energy it takes to hang onto the past is holding you back from a new life.”

– Mary Manin Morrissey

Journaling is a great way to release and let go. To get things off your chest. Our minds are our own worst enemies. The same thoughts go round and round in the same old ways and keep us stuck.

If something bothers you, write about it. Get it out so you can see it from a different perspective. Let it out. Let it go.

Owning and healing your pressure cooker is an important step in claiming your power, building your esteem and making your stand.

“In truth, to attain to interior peace, one must be willing to pass through the contrary to peace. Such is the teaching of the Sages.”

Reawaken your curiosity

“What a distressing contrast there is between the radiant intelligence of the child and the feeble mentality of the average adult.”

– Sigmund Freud

Why is this so?

Young children possess what Zen calls ‘beginner’s mind.’ They are awed and fascinated with the wonder of the world, open to discovering and experiencing new things. Anything is possible. Life is a great adventure.

For almost all of us, the systems that ‘educate’ us to be adults stifle our natural joy and curiosity. We lose touch with our innate appreciation of life. We forget how to dream.

The blessing is that with attention, patience and love, we can reawaken our sense of wonder. We can again dance with life.

“The mind WILL be free, or it will be dead.”

Rich and Poor

“It is not the man who has too little, but the man who craves more, that is poor.”
- Seneca: Philosopher, statesman, dramatist

It’s been said that being poor is not a reflection of your bank account, but rather a state of mind. There are those who are practically penniless, yet because of their determination and aspirations to achieve success, they are not poor. It’s perfectly natural to want to be rich. We all want that. But it’s also important to appreciate what you do have; relish your life, your family, and your friends.

GREAT ACHIEVEMENT IS BORN OF STRUGGLE

“Our strength grows out of our weakness” said Ralpoh Waldo Emerson. Not until we are pricked and stung and sorely shot at, awakens the indignation which arms itself with secret forces. Srife ans struggle can inspire you to overcome adversity and to propoel yourself to real achievement. View every struggle as an opportunity for personal growth. It is the struggle itself, not the result , that builds character. If you know you are right, stay the course even though the whole world seems to be against you and everyone you know wuestions your judgement. When you prevail, and you eventually will if you stick to the job - they will all tell you that they knew all along you could do it.

How to Become a Star at Work by Robin Sharma

The only way you will ever truly succeed in this new knowledge-based economy is to become a star at work, that is, an individual who stands far above the crowd and one who is totally unique in a world where most people are trying to be more alike. The moment you make a deep commitment to becoming a star at work and burning all your bridges to the person that you once were, your life will change in an unmistakable way. The day you decide to start acting like the person you were destined to become is the day that you begin to tap into the wellspring of human talents that will lead you to your own form of personal greatness.

These are not the simple musings of yet another professional thinker spouting hackneyed euphemisms in the hope that one day someone will take note. These are the hard, cold facts of life - and they have been so for hundreds of years. And to deny them and continue living a life of complacency is to abandon your duty to do something special with your life.

As Ashley Montagu observed: “The deepest personal defeat suffered by human beings is constituted by the difference between what one was capable of becoming and what one has in fact become.”

To become a star at work and to start seizing some of the matchless opportunities that are out there in what I believe to be the most exciting time in the history of humanity, you first need to make the decision to raise the standards that you will work and live by commit to living by a benchmark far higher than anyone would have the right to expect from you. Take a good hard look at the way you spend your days and ask yourself whether your agenda reflects your priorities. If there is an incongruity between the activities you invest your energies in and the values you hope to live by, you have a problem and need to make some immediate course corrections. For example, if your goal is to have a meaningful and rewarding work experience but you devote your days spinning your wheels on mundane tasks that never advance your professional goals, you need to do refocus yourself on the things that truly count. If a rich and happy family experience is high on your list of life priorities but you have not been to your son’s soccer game in a year and you cannot remember the last time you sat down to do homework with your daughter, you need to sharpen your pencil and rework your schedule. The facts never lie and the activities of your schedule will ultimately reflect the quality of your life.

BECOMING WHO WE’VE ALWAYS BEEN

“To dream of the person you would like to be is to waste the person you are.”
– Author Unknown

The best thing about growing older for me has been discovering and becoming who I’ve been all along. Once that truth is uncovered and we recognize the beautiful souls that have been with us since the beginning of time, we’ll never go back.

There is such clarity in this awareness… to accept… love… respect and admire our unique qualities. It would be crazy now to hide this truth.

I can now speak from this truth with confidence. Yes, the words at first sounded foreign and sometimes stumbled out because I didn’t recognize where they were coming from. Yet, my intuition felt right and inspired me to keep going until eventually my words were defining and strong. And with each word my confidence grows and looks more beautiful.

In confusion

“It is while trying to get everything straight in my head that I get confused.”
– Mary Virginia Micka

When I become confused, when my spirit fights with what to make, I learned how to give up my processes of thought completely. The best solution, I discovered, of the lies by asking for my heart the direction. This requires that I stop my mental chattering, while resting in silence or by doing something completely different. In peace, motionless space, I often know what is necessary, with a clearness which I never obtain to work of my spirit.

And I now know, undoubtedly, that when I am confused is not never the hour to act. I must await clearness.

“I have never been lost, but I will admit to being confused for several weeks.”
– Daniel Boone

Faith, Belief and Knowing

By : Bob Proctor

In every great book there are countless stories of men and women who had great purpose and high ideals; they worked toward and reached incredible goals. Time after time these people came up against obstacles or circumstances that would destroy the average person. These people would find themselves in situations that appeared devastating - they might have lost fortunes, loved ones or possibly had to battle some great physical problem but they never appeared to waiver; it seemed as if nothing could stop them.

You very likely can think of a number of people you know personally or know of, who might be Giants when it comes to producing in your industry.

The record of history in sports is filled with great examples.

What made these people Great was their Belief or Faith - it was unshakable. No one and nothing could disturb or destroy their Faith.

It could very easily appear as if some emotional or capricious God has singled out, reached out and touched these individuals and caused them to do such great things.

Everyone, including YOU, has been touched, blessed, endowed with the tools. You must develop a belief or faith based on understanding, just as these people did for themselves. Their faith was not blind, the bind that is easily shattered like fine crystal with the first knock that comes along. Their faith had a strong foundation based on understanding.
